Salon's Got a Will to Survive: The company said its website has more than 3 million readers a month, of which 74,000 are paying subscribers.
According to the company's most recent regulatory filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the number of subscriptions increased 56 percent in 2003.
The numbers defy industry observers who have said that readers don't want to pay for online news.
