TECNOSFERA

Jef Raskin, Macintosh inventor, looks to the future of computing: Get him talking about computer software and hardware and Raskin has some pointed comments. Most computer software is unnecessarily complicated, using far too much computing power. His thesis is that simpler, more intelligent programs can do the work on smaller computers. That's what his THE [The Humane Environment] company is promoting, even letting folks download an experimental program from his website.
"The industry forces incompatibility," Raskin says. It also gets bogged down in its own success. "I can't believe I can buy a Macintosh that works like it did 20 years ago," he muses. "I want to change things again."
