American vs. European Journalists: These days we see journalists from all over the world flocking to the Kingdom in search of news. Their numbers are steadily increasing, as if these journalists had suddenly discovered a new territory holding a treasure of news and information.
The Kingdom has long opened its doors for foreign journalists seeking the truth. It is only after the Sept. 11 attacks - where it was reported that 15 of the alleged hijackers who carried out the attacks against New York and Washington were Saudis - that we began to witness this flood of media people. The Kingdom has now become a focal point for journalists from all over the world who previously failed to realize the significance of the country. [...]
As journalists, we try to show a high degree of transparency and engage in consistent and substantive discussions with our colleagues.
But experience has shown us that of all foreign journalists, the Americans are the ones who care least about truth and objectivity. They are only concerned with sensational and selective reporting, which in the end turns out to be biased.
In comparison, European journalists seem more open-minded and objective. Some of them come here to dig for the truth, others wish to understand and appreciate our point of view, which they seek to explain to their readers in their own way.
