Kroll Releases Pre-employment Screening "Hit Ratios": Kroll, a leading risk management corporation, has released their annual Hit Ratio Report and Industry Analysis. The report provides some startling statistics from 2006 regarding pre-employment screening:
9.1% Applicants had criminal record hits
21.6% Applicants had discrepancies in education verifications
49.4% Applicants had discrepancies in past employment verifications

Discrepancies regarding what applicants reported to potential employers regarding their past employment increased from 36.5% in 2005 to 49.4% in 2006; and discrepancies in education verifications increased from 14.1% in 2005 to 21.5% in 2006.
