Are publishers making concessions for bloggers? Giving the keynote speech at the Online Publishers' Association conference today, Reuters CEO Tom Glocer hinted that Reuters is relaxing enforcement of its copyright terms as it acknowledges the value of blog debate.

Decreto-Lei que aprova o Regime de Taxas da ERC, Entidade Reguladora para a Comunicação Social: Nestes termos, o Decreto-Lei cria a (i) Taxa de Regulação e de Supervisão, que incide sobre operadores de Imprensa, Rádio, Televisão, Cabo, Comunicações Móveis e Sítios Informativos Sujeitos a Tratamento Editorial, a (ii) Taxa por Serviços Prestados, e a (iii) Taxa por Emissão de Títulos Habilitadores para operadores de televisão e radiodifusão.
Contudo, em virtude de o início de funções da ERC ocorrer já no ano em curso, o diploma determina que os operadores apenas suportarão 50% da Taxa de Regulação e Supervisão, relativa ao ano de 2006. Do mesmo modo, em função do cumprimento do Plano Tecnológico, determina-se uma isenção temporária do pagamento de Taxa de Regulação e Supervisão pelos Sítios Informativos Sujeitos a Tratamento Editorial.

A importância do acordo entre o MIT e o Governo visto pelo MIT:
1) MIT is considering entering into science and technology cooperation with the nation of Portugal, but has not made any final decisions regarding the issue, said Chancellor Phillip L. Clay PhD ?75.
2) Over the next four to five months, MIT faculty will study the possibility of the collaboration before reaching a final decision.
3) The level of consideration MIT is giving to the pairing with Portugal is not unusual. ?We get invitations [for collaborations] every week,? Clay said.
